Book Signing: Lisa Foley and more…

Last year I had the pleasure of taking meeting Lisa Foley at her book signing for The Midnight Feast. Recently I was speaking with a friend about the restaurant I visited beforehand (um… because they were temporarily closed because of a fire, how sad) and realized I never shared a review.
So I have to give a special shout-out to Enso, check out these vibes:
Enso in Louisville, KY
Enso offers a blend of Japanese and Southern comfort food, I had the best ramen. Dining at Enso was an experience, we received a warm towel prior to dinner. Truly lovely - I hope the restaurant opens again so I can make the trip back.
After dinner, we headed down the street to the book signing. Lisa Foley was interviewed for about an hour. She was so sweet and kind, Lucy genuinely cares about her readers and their reading experience. I enjoyed listening to her speak about her writing inspirations and process.
I was star struck and could not stop smiling when it actually came time to meet her. I was able to have her sign my copy. My delay in sharing the experience was because I also wanted to include my book review.
Foley does a great job of using multiple points of view and using a detailed timeline. Midnight Feast feels like a slow burn, I could not put it down. The timelines slowly revealed information about each character. Foley paints an atmospheric and creepy picture - I mean, what the heck actually happened…
I rated this 4 / 5 stars and decided to leave this review SPOILER FREE.. but I will provide the book summary below..
Goodreads Synopsis:
“It’s the opening night of The Manor, and no expense, small or large, has been spared. The infinity pool sparkles; crystal pouches for guests’ healing have been placed in the Seaside Cottages and Woodland Hutches; the “Manor Mule” cocktail (grapefruit, ginger, vodka, and a dash of CBD oil) is being poured with a heavy hand. Everyone is wearing linen.
But under the burning midsummer sun, darkness stirs. Old friends and enemies circulate among the guests. Just outside the Manor’s immaculately kept grounds, an ancient forest bristles with secrets. And the Sunday morning of opening weekend, the local police are called. Something’s not right with the guests. There’s been a fire. A body’s been discovered.
THE FOUNDER * THE HUSBAND * THE MYSTERY GUEST * THE KITCHEN HELP
It all began with a secret, fifteen years ago. Now the past has crashed the party. And it’ll end in murder at… The Midnight Feast.”
