June has ended and onto a new…
I initially thought the top row (of the above photo) included my favorites from the month but then I saw a few in the second row that I loved! Here’s a quick recap:
I read Happy Medium this month and LOVED, so I read the first book by this author - Mrs. Nash’s Ashes by Sarah Adler. Saying I enjoyed the element of grief, spirits/ghosts, etc. is so strange but I thought the authors perspective was unique. Though technically I rated Happy Medium 4 stars and Mrs. Nash’s Ashes 5 stars
Chloe Liese never disappoints - except for the fact that the Bergman family series is finished 😭 I really didn’t want it to end. This series will always hold a special place in my heart, I would like think myself an honorary Bergman. I loved Viggo’s story. I rated Only and Forever- 4.5 stars.
The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley - I read this one because I met the author last month! First off - she is wonderful and sweet. I loved learning about her writing process. Second - I loved this book, maybe because it was between a whole lot of romance books? Maybe because it was generally just a great book. I typically like when I can’t guess whodunnit -that was the case here.
Catch and Cradle by Katia Rose - this was our Indie book club pick. We were looking for an Indie book with audio on Hoopla with LGBTQ+ representation. This one hit the mark - 4 spicy stars on this one.
I love Abby Jimenez and Christina Lauren, they write such happy books.
Yours Truly, I rated 5 stars - I thought it was fun and a little steamy while also hitting on some important elements of mental health.
The Paradise Problem was 4 stars for me, almost a 5. I loved that the book was set on a tropical island - escapism setting!! I also enjoyed the fake dating trope.
I read two books by Emily McIntire in June:
Crossed - I rated 4 stars. This was a dark and steamy retelling of The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
Beneath the Stars - also rated 4 stars. I enjoyed this small-town romance with spice. Chase and Alina are forced to work together after many years have passed since dating.
Pucking Wild by Emily Rath, was exactly as it sounds: a spicy hockey romance. Rated this one 4 stars. I enjoyed the plot line of this one.
Listen for the Lie by Amy Tintera: this was SUCH a fun read. I rated 4 stars. What would you do if everyone you knew thought you murdered your best friend but you have no memory of the night?
From Helsinki with Love - okay, This was our indie book club pick. I loved this one but some of the banter made me cringe. I loved it because I have visited Helsinki and been to a few of the places referenced - which is exciting. But it was so insta - love and the conversations at some point were too much. I really struggled rating this one. I chose to rate 3.5 stars and rounded up on Goodreads.
I Wish You Would by Eva Des Lauriers - special thanks to Macmillan Audio for an advanced reader copy. I really enjoyed hearing Ethan and Natalia’s backstory. Ghosting, prom, and summertime- ah the sweet makings of a YA romance.
That is all for June 2024!! What book are you reading right now?
