That’s a wrap!! In April 2022 I finished 9 books. I flipped back and forth with audio and the physical or digital copy. So it was a very diverse month.

My favorite book was A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire. I also enjoyed The Spanish Love Deception, One Italian Summer, and We Were Never Here. I honestly had more three star reviews than normal this month.

Here are a few mini reviews of the books I read this month:

5 STARS

A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire by Jennifer L. Armentrout

5 beautiful and amazing stars!! I am so in love with Casteel and Poppy. The cliffhanger at the end of this one OH MY! I can’t wait to pick up book 3.

The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas

4.5 stars!! but on Goodreads I decided to Roundup 😉

I loved this book soooo much. Did I find similarities to The Hating Game? Yes. But did I love The Hating Game? No. Everything I didn’t like in hating game, was not in this one and it was 🤌🏻

Aaron is delightful and I love him so much! 🤣

4 STARS

Homicide and Halo-Halo by Mia P. Manansala

Enjoyed the cozy mystery but the ending seemed a little rushed.

We Were Never Here by Andrea Bartz

So many ups and downs and twists and turns. I couldn’t put it down! Two best friends traveling the world together, what could go wrong?!?

One Italian Summer by Rebecca Serle

I loved this book, I cried and sobbed and teared up some more… what an emotional read! I am warning you!! Looking to escape to the Amalfi Coast - this is the perfect escapist novel. There was one piece (that I will not spoil) that was unrealistic for me and is the only reason it was not 5 stars.

My Friend Anna: The True Story of a Fake Heiress by Rachel DeLoache Williams

3.5 stars, but rounded up..

Okay first - there is so much privilege and discussions about money in this book. Definitely hard to relate to and I just don’t understand how someone can get away with it or even has the courage to try it.

Second - I may be slightly obsessed with Anna Delvey and her story. I don’t know whether I love her or hate her. I think that is the point? That is what she is going for, right? Being in the news, etc. well I bought into it 🙄😳 it is crazy the number of people profiting from Anna.

Third - I enjoyed learning more about Rachel and the deception. I think hearing her story was interesting since it is one that is glazed over in the news, show, etc. but it is not the focus. This book was one perspective that made me lean towards hating Anna.

3 STARS

Pieces of Her by Karin Slaughter

I didn’t love this one like I was hoping I would. I thought the chapters were very long and the dual perspective didn’t work for me. I wanted to know what happened but I also felt like I suspected everything, there wasn’t a shocking moment.

I read for book club and a couple others thought it was slow too, but majority of everyone loved it. Maybe I just wasn’t in the mood for a thriller at the time.

A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas

This short novella was an outlier in the series for me. I love Feyre and her sweet heart but that is about it. This was kind of boring…

Misfit by Monica Arya

I thought the characters had great chemistry. I picked it up because of how much I love football. But the football aspect of it was minor and not the most accurate, I couldn’t handle it. I really struggled and could not recover from the football aspect. I understand - this is me and probably not the point of the book. Maybe you would enjoy this spicy book if you didn’t love football?

What is a book you have loved recently? What did you read in April?
